It is owned in equal parts by BHP Billiton plc, Anglo American plc and Xstrata plc.

Cerrejón is the largest open pit coal mining export operation
in the world and is located in the northeastern region of Colombia.

Cerrejón was the first coal exporter to own and operate its own entire export infrastructure. Cerrejón has to date shipped over 400 million tonnes and never declared Force Majeure.

With offices in Dublin and Atlanta, CMC Coal Marketing Company is ideally placed to respond to the growing coal needs of its main markets throughout the Atlantic basin and Central and South America.
